Intuit Online Payroll proves to have been worth the wait, however, as there’s a lot to like about the 2008 debut offering of the service: The setup process is exceptionally well designed, as is the interface, which makes navigation painless. The payroll tools themselves are fine, and the product has numerous ways to get help. But there are a couple of problems with the app that keep it out of the running for top honors, most notably the lack of e-filing options for state taxes. It’s extremely good for a first-generation product but not quite as finished as Intuit launches usually are.
